Hundreds of people gathered at the Grosvenor House Hotel to support Sadiq’s campaign to become Labour’s choice to be London Mayor. And the crowd truly reflects Modern London. People from all backgrounds, from right across London are supporting Sadiq.
English Boxing Champions Amir Khan and Bradly Skeete spoke powerfully about their support for Sadiq.
Britain’s Got Talent stars Signature also backed Sadiq for Mayor – endorsing his commitment to mutual tolerance and respect. The two guys from different South Asian heritage came together at a London talent show to form their co medy/dance act. Their story, like Sadiq’s shows what is possible in London.
They also explained how important it is for young Londoners to see how success is possible, and the importance of the breadth and diversity of London to be reflected in our politicians. Sadiq will be a Modern Mayor for Modern London.
There was also a powerful speech by Ewa Jasiewicz from Unite, supporting Sadiq’s commitment to the Living Wage by ensuring it was a Living wage event. Hotel workers are often part of the 600,000 Londoners who are paid less than that. Sadiq led by example by ensuring those who made the event so successful were paid the London Living Wage for their work.
MPs from across London are backing Sadiq, including Tulip Siddiq, Rushanara Ali, Dawn Butler and Kate Osamor. Did you take a photo last night? Check out our Facebook Photo Album here
