Leonie Cooper - Merton and Wandsworth

Leonie's pledge:

Sadiq and Leonie, if elected, will ask TfL to review the plans for the Crossrail 2 station in Wimbledon in order to minimise the impact on the town centre.

Living in London needs to be affordable

Merton & Wandsworth are great places to live, but it’s becoming more and more expensive to live here. Rents and house prices are skyrocketing, and the price of travel has gone up every year under the Tory Mayor.

Local people are finding it hard to carry on living around here – and it’s becoming almost impossible to get onto the housing ladder. A person living in London on an average wage and paying an average rent or mortgage, now pays nearly two-thirds of their total income on housing alone. The Tories have failed to address the cost of living. This can’t go on. Living in London must be affordable.

Sadiq will deliver more affordable homes, take action on rents, introduce ‘the Hopper’ and freeze fares for four years.
