Sam Russell - Bexley and Bromley

Sam's pledge:

Sam and Sadiq, if elected, will jointly push for the Mayor to take over responsibility for more commuter rail routes, including SouthEastern trains, in order to improve reliability, capacity and affordability. Despite local Tory claims, no deal has been done to transfer Southeastern and only Sam and Sadiq can be trusted to deliver what local commuters desperately want.

Tory train service – worse and more expensive

Bexley & Bromley is a great area, but it’s becoming more and more expensive to live here. Every year the price of travel is going up under the Tories, while the services we expect and deserve from our local Tory councils, such as social care, are constantly under threat.

London is now one of the most expensive cities in the world in which to commute. Local residents have been demanding a better rail service for years, but this Tory Government and our Tory Mayor have sat on their hands and allowed fares to rise, while the service provided by Southeastern Trains gets worse and worse.

Sadiq Khan has a clear and costed plan to freeze all TfL fares for the next four years, so you will not pay a penny more in 2020 than you do in 2016. He’ll do this by cutting vanity projects, halving spending on expensive consultants and using spare TfL land to build homes.
